Chapter Officer's Teleconference Meeting Minutes (11-21-08)
- 2009 Chapter officers’ election:
National HFES needs chapter election results by late December 2008.
Paul will e-mail a request for chapter officer nominees by December
2nd. The election will take place December 15-19. We’ll try to use
an election balloting system such Bravenet or WebMonkey (we’ve
used Bravenet in the past but last year it didn’t work so we just used
e-mail).
Chapter finances:
There’s approximately $429 left in the treasury. Group agreed that
we should use the same model as UPA where they charge attendees
per meeting. These charges go toward paying dues so an attendee
would only pay up to a certain amount per year; once that amount is
paid, the meetings are free.
Community involvement and visibility:
Tabled for discussion until the January officers’ meeting.
Increasing membership/outreach:
Message with request for chapter officers’ will also go to contacts at
other professional organizations such as AOTA, AIHA, APTA, ASSE,
IDSA, UPA, etc.
Future meetings:
Ila has graciously offered to host a March/April meeting at Abbott
Labs in Irving. Abbott is a perfect host because they deal with both
product and manufacturing human factors and the location is between
Dallas and Fort Worth.
The group agreed that future meets should be held at area
companies. Nik (Orametrix) and Paul (TI) can also host meetings at
their respective companies but their Richardson locations may not be
convenient for the membership.
Once 2009 chapter officers are chosen, there will be an officers
meeting or teleconference sometime in early to mid-January.
Ila suggested having a someone review a book or research article.
