Updates:
Houston HFES Symposium - Lessons Learned (Camille)
Houston Chapter uses symposium to fund chapter activities and gain student
membership
One big all-day meeting per year
Executive board includes past officers
Pass out nomination forms
Focus on research
Factory tours for students (Most from Texas Tech)
Recap of Abbott labs meeting on April 16th - Lessons Learned
Pluses included a combination of cognitive and physical ergo, snacks, factory tour
and central location
Reason for low turnout (9 attendees) is unknown
Website update
Should we set up a Facebook page? (discussion)
Can sections of website be set up for updates by chapter members? (discussion)
Action: Paul to request a teleconference with Bill Barbre

Work Right Foundation - Donation items requested by Vicki Missar
IDC (Industrial Developing Countries)
AON has a matching commitment
Yum Brands may support this effort
Due date changed to September 2009 and this will be an ongoing effort
Camille contacted National HFES regarding chapter involvement and they approve
as long as chapter funds are not involved
Nomination ballots for the 2009 National HFES election of officers
Nominations will be accepted until June 1, 2009 (discussion)
Possible future meeting locations and topics
Action: Paul to contact OSHA to see if a representative can talk about the status of
any updates to the ergo standard
Shrawan Kumar has offered to host a meeting at the UT Medical Center in Fort
Worth. September or November might be best.
Dallas October meeting – TBD
Professional outreach
RIMS (Risk and Insurance Management Society) has an active Dallas chapter and
their activities might be of interest to HFES members. Vicki will forward the next
meeting notice.
