Senior Systems Engineer needed to support a Human Factors
Engineering core competency for an advanced collaborative modeling
and simulation lab to support effective and consistent Graphical User
Interfaces (GUIs)/Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for the lab and
Government Systems programs.  The selected person will be
responsible for optimizing system user interfaces through a systematic
approach to the design process.  Interfaces would be for control and
management functions for data link and information management
systems.  The design process will include model-based engineering as
well as traditional development methods. To ensure optimum
performance understanding of empirical usability testing is required.
The capability would include the development, execution, maintenance
of processes for the development and integration of HFE with modeling
and simulation for rapid and effective prototype HMIs.

Systems would be primarily DoD network centric but could also include
commercial systems..  The engineer will be a part of a multi-functional
team comprising system engineers, software engineers, hardware
engineers and other support engineering groups performing tasks to
model, simulate, integrate and demonstrate advanced system
architectures, concepts of operation, and instantiated systems.
Candidate will work closely with team members in a fast paced and
challenging environment.

Position requires an innovative, self-motivated technical person with
experience in human factors, human factors technologies and design
principles that protect and extend the user’s physical, perceptual,
cognitive, and psychological performance under hostile and highly
stressed conditions using various methodologies and modeling and
simulation that could be integrated together to provide effective and
quick turn-around for the evaluation of system architecture and system
components in a operational environment. Familiarity with the military
domain including communication systems, IP networking and network-
centric operations, control and monitor systems requirements are very
much desired.  Candidate should be capable to provide innovative
methods for development of user interfaces with and without direct
customer input.  Definition and practice of elicitation and validation of
requirements is a must. Candidate should also have demonstrated
ability to keep abreast of advances in technology and tools to keep
human factors design concepts and modeling and simulation effort at
the forefront of technology.

Proven ability to participate in and lead advanced concept development
tasks is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a
must for white paper development, presentations, and presentations.
Applicant must be able to contribute in a wide variety of areas and
tasks as described below:

Define and capture functional and operational user interface
requirements

Synthesis of user interface graphics and components
Conduct validation and verification of HMIs as well as system and
subsystem components

Perform all tasks in accordance with company system engineering
processes
Assist in technical proposals, risk management, project planning, and
cost estimation.

Strong knowledge of various DoD mission operations and system
interfaces  are highly desirable.

Travel may be required (up to 10% of the time)

Candidate must have an active security clearance or be eligible to
obtain one.  US Citizenship required.
